Wordpress for the iPhone

I am writting this from my iPhone, with the help of the new Wordpress app for the iPhone. So far I’ve come across 1 glitch where buttons were not showing up. I just restarted the app and it’s working very well. The only thing I’d like to see added is the landscape keyboard, otherwise I will be doing slot more blogging because this is a great app.

New additions to the family!

The first is Chloe, a female Yorkie-Poodle, about 8 weeks old. My wife has been wanting a small dog forever, and now that we are about to move into a house, her dream is coming true.

The second is my dog, a Siberian Husky, about 6 weeks old. He is not in my possesion yet, we are waiting until the move is complete before we go pick him up. His name is still under great debate…

FrankSmithLawOffice.com

FrankSmithLawOffice.comThis client came to me needing a site upgrade and re-design. We started the site from the ground up, only recycling some of the information on the original site. The goal was to make it more readable, and more professional.

The actual design took many faces till we settled on the final design, color scheme and layout. We worked to create a very simple, easy to navigate, and easy to read site, that maintained a professional looking site. We also, along the way, developed a branding for the law firm. Which resulted in the color and logo.

New job: Web Analyst

2 weeks ago, I moved into the Internet Services department as a Web Analyst. My job is to field client requests for new pages, updates to current pages, add/remove/update graphics on pages, for their magazine subscription pages and e-mailers.

I am enjoying the job a lot already, and am learning a ton along the way. I am a self taught web designer, so I knew most of the ins-and-outs of the trade, but now I am dealing with a lot more intuitive web programming and my company is making it very easy to learn what I need to know. It’s like getting a second college degree on the job.

Byers Family Photos

About a month ago (yeah, I am slow to update my page) I had the pleasure to shoot the Byers family photos. We visited Water Works Park in Des Moines and had perfect weather and great fall colors. With the Byers permission, here are some of the pics we took. Enjoy!

Hurrah, iPhone!

After working extensive overtime hours (the only way I was allowed to pay for it) I have purchased my iPhone! Thanks to the $200 price drop, it came a little sooner that i planned. And I am already in love with it.

I have already successfully hacked my iPhone and added lots of cool 3rd party applications and modifications. I choose to use AT&T just to keep cool features like visual voice mail. But iPhone hackers have already made it available on other networks.

After a day to play with my iPhone, I am amazed at how revolutionary it is, and would never go back to a lesser phone. Being able to pull up a road map, search for a specific destination, like Pizza Hut, and getting detailed instructions on how to get there, phone numbers, and links to corresponding websites; it is in some ways life-changing. No more carrying a road map in the car for a trip. No more cell phone and iPod filling up my pockets. No more laptop needed to business trips to stay connected to email. And the list keeps going.

Some screen shots and photos taken directly from my iPhone:

Trip To San Antonio and Corpus Christi

Lindsay and I took a well deserved vacation down to San Antonio and Coprus Christi and San Antonio, and I got some great shots to share with you all. The one on the left is a memorial at the Alamo. And below you will see pictures taken while we soaked up the sun on the beach.

The trip was very relaxing and full of great site seeing opportunities. Although, we spent a lot of our time in Coprus Christi on the beaches and in the seafood restaurants. Our favorite restaurant was the Seafood Co. Oyster Bar, where we ate oysters to our hears content. There was also a locally owned sushi restaurant next door that was fantastic.

Wedding Photography

I had the opportunity to photograph the rehearsal and reception for the wedding of Brad and Kristin Funkhouser. I’ve done this before, but their wedding was exceptionally fun to shoot. Not to mention, I’ve know both of them since 1st grade.

I’ve been doing my homework and hope to start shooting the whole wedding in the near future. I’m not going to lie, shooting a wedding sounds nerve wrecking. You have lifetime memories on the line, should you miss a key shot. There are many thing that go into shooting the perfect pictures; lighting, focus, people, atmosphere, and everything else that can change (and does). The key is practice and knowing how to handle every situation.

So thats what I’ve been doing, shooting receptions, rehearsals, graduation pictures, and events.

Pursuingwomanhood.org

click to enlargeI designed this site for Pursuing Womanhood Ministries to help promote and advertise the Pursuing Womanhood Ministries devotionals. It will be an informational site about the author’s devotional books and allow online purchasing.

The site was designed to be simple and easy to navigate. That is why, I choose to use WordPress to manage the content. It will also allow the author to make changes to the site on her own, and add her own comments and articles.
